At the end of the day it's just numbers in a database somewhere.
It's actually kind of surprising how seriously people take it. I can easily imagine someone saying to the inventor of downvotes: "Yeah but what happens if people just... ignore the number? Why would anyone actually give a crap?"
Some of the best conversations I've seen on HN were when someone was being downvoted to light gray and still making their point carefully and at length, not at all inhibited by the dogpiling.
As someone already pointed out, my comment was unnecessary.
In the spur of the moment, I blurted out what I was thinking. I'm surprised because I didn't notice anything about the writing style. None of the read-aloud software bothered to mention the capitalization, which is good so.
